Project overview
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is delivering a housing initiative compromising 62 high quality, characterful council homes across two strategically located sites. The development will be built to sustainable, zero-carbon standards, setting a benchmark for environmentally responsible social housing.
To support the project's performance, sustainability, and longevity goals, Wavin has supplied its advanced plumbing and drainage solutions, including Tigris K5 press-fit system and OSMA soil, waste, and rainwater.

The challenges
The project faced several challenges. With ambitious build schedules in place, speed of installation was a priority, particularly given the shortage of skilled labour across the construction sector.
A key challenge in the project was meeting strict requirements for both delivery timelines and product performance. Additionally, the product needed to meet high-performance benchmarks under real-world conditions, leaving little room for compromise on quality or reliability.

The solution
To address the challenges faced, Wavin UK supplied a tailored combination of its high-performance Tigris K5 system alongside the versatile OSMA range, ensuring both the speed of installation and the reliability needed to meet the project’s demanding requirements.
The Tigris K5 system delivered a major advantage to the project by removing the need for traditional soldering, a skill which requires experience. With the UK facing a shortage of fully qualified plumbers, the plastic press-fit technology of Tigris K5 allowed installation to be carried out quickly and efficiently. This not only reduced reliance on scarce skilled labour but also helped to keep the project on schedule without compromising quality or performance.
The Tigris K5 system also met the project’s demanding performance requirements, being WRAS-approved and capable of operating at high temperatures, including a constant hot water return at 65°C, and pressures of up to 10 bar. Supplied in coil sizes from 16 to 32mm, the system reduced the number of fittings required, lowering the risk of potential leak points. Additionally, the availability of pre-insulated pipe removed the need for a separate insulation stage, saving valuable installation time.
Having all products supplied by a single manufacturer, brought the added benefit of simplified compliance. With the Tigris K5 and OSMA ranges both coming from the same trusted source, the project team could be confident that all components met the required standards and were backed by consistent technical support.
All products were supplied through BSS and UKPS, ensuring reliable availability and consistent delivery schedules. In addition to stocking both Tigris K5 and the OSMA ranges, these suppliers provided essential tooling support and technical assistance, helping the installation team work efficiently.

Wavin Tigris K5/ M5 builds on the success and reliability delivered by its predecessor, the Tigris K1/ M1. Wavin Tigris K5/ M5 is the very first of its kind to feature the innovative Acoustic Leak Alert function. Any un-pressed fitting will make itself known by producing a loud whistle.
But that’s not all. The fittings also offer an improved flow and can now be pressed with multiple pressing profiles.
