Commissioned by developers Anwyl Homes and Bellway Homes to provide a tried and tested below-ground sewage system for a large housing development in Llay, Wrexham. Civil engineering experts Hollingsworth Brothers worked with Wavin to deliver the ideal solution.

With over 7,000m of pipe required for the road and sewer drainage systems that make up the 350-home development, Hepworth Clay was quickly identified for the project due to its strength, durability and long-life expectancy. Geraint Dodd, buyer at Hollingsworth Brothers explains, ‘We knew this was going to be a large, 48-week project so we wanted a product we knew and trusted’.

Hepworth Clay SuperSleve

Suitable for adoptable, domestic, commercial, or industrial drainage, Hepworth Clay SuperSleve pipes and fittings are all made in the UK, providing high durability and longevity. With over 150 years’ expertise working with the material, using locally sourced raw clays and moorland rainwater, the production process of SuperSleve offers an impressive environmental profile.

This project opted to use a range of Hepworth Clay products from 150mm to 300mm diameter pipes. The product was supplied by specialist civils and drainage merchants, Keyline.

Chris PancuttKeyline’s Deeside branch manager said, ‘Hepworth Clay is a popular choice for contractors around this area, and we often find that clay drainage is specified from the beginning of a project. We’ve worked with Hollingsworth Brothers for a number of years on various projects, so we knew this solution would be a great fit for the team.’

An end to end solution

Naturally high product strength enhances in-use performance resulting in a lifetime expectancy of over 100 years.

Clay is a future-proof material. 100% natural and 100% recyclable.

Kitemarked to BS EN 295-1, supported by a declaration of performance and CE marking.

Recycled aggregates arising from selected construction demolition waste are approved for use with clay pipes.

Hepworth pipes carry a lifetime jetting guarantee , jet proof to 7500 psi.*

Clay is inert, so it is unaffected by any effluent approved for discharge into a public sewer.

‘Clay systems offer a fantastic sustainable, durable, and cost-efficient solution for big sites such as this. The wide recognition of the products features and benefits provides for easy specification, installation, and adoption by the regional water and sewage company’,

‘Hepworth Clay’s SuperSleve has a unique manufacturing process, enabling the production of a high strength product with thinner walls than other clay or concrete pipes, making them lighter and easier to install, which saves times on site and increases productivity’.
