El agua de lluvia que se recoge puede transportar todo tipo de contaminantes, como basura, petróleo y metales pesados, que contaminan las aguas subterráneas o abiertas antes de que lleguen a toda la cadena de suministro de una región.  Por ende, se debe recolectar el agua de lluvia contaminada, almacenarla y realizar un proceso de tratamiento. ## **Agotamiento de las aguas subterráneas** Las sequías persistentes producen el agotamiento de nuestras aguas subterráneas tiene graves consecuencias tanto para las personas como para el mundo natural.  Los efectos secundarios incluyen el derrumbe de las casas o edificios debido al hundimiento, que puede evitarse con sistemas de infiltración inteligentes que permiten recolectar el agua así se puede mantener el nivel de agua subterránea intacto.
