Al elegir un colector de grasa, es importante tener en cuenta su tamaño, el tipo de aplicación y el nivel de protección necesario. ## **Paso 2: Tratamiento primario **   El tratamiento primario que da el biodigestor pretende eliminar los sólidos sedimentables orgánicos e inorgánicos que están en suspensión en las aguas residuales mediante el proceso físico de sedimentación.    El objetivo principal de este tratamiento es reducir suficientemente la velocidad del agua, para que los sólidos que representan la materia orgánica e inorgánica sean susceptibles de degradación.    El proceso de descomposición es vital en la naturaleza, ya que ayuda a reciclar los nutrientes y devolverlos al suelo. En la digestión anaeróbica, la materia orgánica se descompone por la acción de los microorganismos en ausencia de oxígeno.   El porcentaje de eliminación de sólidos varía según el tipo de tratamiento primario utilizado, pero suele estar entre el 30 y el 40%. Además, el número de microorganismos se reduce entre un 30 y un 40%, y la demanda bioquímica disminuye entre un 40 y un 60%.
