Project Overview:
\nSt George Beaufont Park is a new community and residential development in North West London, created by Berkeley Group. This mixed use development comprises of both commercial and industrial units as well as offices, kitchens and a full basement plan. There are also 343 residential properties comprised of one-bed, two-bed and three-bed apartments.

The Challenges
\nThe five tower blocks within the development are ‘high rise’ buildings and therefore, a robust plastic system for the SVPs (Soil Vent Pipe) was required.
\nAdditionally, with several underground car parks, a durable system was needed to withstand pressures from above.
\nThe time of installation was a concern for the project. The preparation required electrofusion joints to be made which is considerably longer than a standard ring seal, or a solvent weld joint. This is due to the pipes needing to be cleaned and peeled, ‘scraped’, before using the electrofusion couplings.
\nWhen making 1000’s of electrofusion joints over a project of this scale, there’s a high chance of installation error.

The Solution
\nThe obvious choice for a robust system was the Wavin HDPE range. A way to extract rainfall and household wastewater from buildings, both commercial and residential. The robust and long-lasting HDPE system provides exceptional chemical resistance together with a high degree of elasticity for excellent impact resistance.
\nWavin provided a new prototype peeling tool that reduces the time to peel the pipe and make the overall joint. Across 1000’s of joints, the new tool saves many hours of labour time, speeding up the installation time.
\n‘The peeling tool is 4x faster than an ordinary hand scraper’.
\nWith the risk of installation errors due to the vast amount of electrofusion joints being made, Wavin provided the new Coupler. Designed around important requests from installers with safety and speed front of mind.
\nTo help support the installation team, Wavin’s commercial technical sales specialist recommended RPM Services used a newly created coupler. Coming soon, the new coupler has been designed with involvement of installers with safety and speed of install front of mind.

Soil, Waste and Vent Applications
\nWavin HDPE is a universal system approved for pipe installation in buildings to DIN 19535 and DIN EN 1519. The product range includes pipes and fittings with dimensions between 40mm and 315mm.
\nWavin HDPE is a complete soil, waste and vent system of pipes and fittings, manufactured from high-density polyethylene (PE HD). This tough and durable HDPE system offers an extraordinary chemical resistance in combination with a high flexibility level and great impact resistance. Wavin HDPE pipes and fittings are jointed by welding, making the Material Characteristics joints resistant to tension. There are two methods of welding: butt welding and electrofusion welding. Most Wavin HDPE products can also be used as part of negative pressure installations like the siphonic roof drainage system, Wavin QuickStream.
